Causes

Relief, Aid, and Pure Water

Prior to covid the world faced a mammoth humanitarian crisis, which has since exacerbated. The UN estimates that in 2021 and beyond over 235 million people will need humanitarian assistance globally in some form of another. Sadly, over half of those needing help are children. Although this world is filled with so much food there is still a lot of people who go hungry every day. We can do something about it. Hence, at ICISIS we provide iCare Packages to vulnerable persons living in poverty, namely orphans, windows, lepers. There iCare Packages comprising of basic amenities, food, clothing, and where possible financial support to families that are in dire need.

Education & Vocational Skills Development

UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) has revealed that an estimated 263 million children and young people are out of school, overwhelmingly in the least developed countries and lower middle-income countries. Furthermore, the crisis is even graver as it was highlighted in 2016 by the International Commission on Financing Education Opportunity   that nearly 825 million young people will not have the basic literacy, numeracy, and digital skills to compete for the jobs of 2030.

Therefore, ICISIS aim is to provide opportunities of learning to poor students who are unable to access it; to provide assistance to children from poor families with educational supplies needed for school; to help in the building of schools that can also serve as centres of influences in marginalized communities; and to ensure that teachers are properly equipped with the knowledge, skill sets and tools needed to facilitate learning in the classroom

Advocacy and Social Prescribing

Many of the vulnerable and marginalized are often left without a voice to articulate their plight and concerns. Through advocacy a voice is given to those without, bringing issues to the forefront that would otherwise be kept subjugated. Advocacy therefore plays a vital role in the fight to achieve the global issues surrounding gender equality, climate justice, health care and education for all, and more.

ICSIS therefore is committed to ensuring that can we are a voice for the voiceless, articulating issues that are pertinent to the poor and vulnerable to the relevant bodies and authorities. We have a moral obligation to raise awareness and accountability for the disregard of fundamental rights of the vulnerable and marginalized.

Community Building and Empowerment

Community building happens in spaces where people come together to share common interests and experiences, connect with each other, exchange ideas, and to work towards similar goals. Community-building fosters connection, creates space for sharing, engages with collective growth, and learning, and facilitates trust-building.

ICSIS seek to provide skills development training so that persons become empowered to provide for themselves. Additionally, we believe in working in partnership with local communities so that they take collective ownership of the work being done.

It is also our hope to initiate a Nehemiah Skills volunteer system where we enlist skilled and into embarking on community projects

Health and Wellbeing Education

Health education programs help empower individuals and communities to take control of their lives so that they can make more informed choices that results in increased their knowledge, healthier lives, improved physical, mental, emotional and social health, and an overall a better positive attitude about themselves and their well-being.

Health education thus focuses on prevention, increasing health equity, and decreasing negative health outcomes such as availability and accessibility of health services to the poor, vulnerable and marginalized.

ICSIS aim to provide seminars and workshops that promote healthy lifestyle choices and changes, equipping persons to make changes in combating lifestyle diseases. We also provide counselling to persons suffering from various debilitating illnesses, addictions, and mental health challenges.

Care of the Environment

We believe that as stewards of the environment we have a duty of care to ensure that we preserve and protect it from the misuse and abuse of others. This world is ours to protect and care for, and what we do now not only affects us, but it also has dire consequences for those coming behind us, not forgetting the environment itself. Therefore, as an organization we believe that we ought to partner with governments and NGOs in promoting the responsible use and care of our environment, while discouraging practices that have debilitating consequences upon the sustainability of the environment. Educating our young people on sustainable environmental habits we see as an imperative towards a sustainable future where both man and his environment can coexist in a symbiotic relationship.
